Almost every child who has managed to survive the past months of bombardment in Gaza is now in the line of fire in Rafah. The lives of more than 1.3 million people, including 610,000 children, hang in the balance, as the Government of Israel prepares to expand its military operations in Rafah.

Since the start of the war in October, families have been forced from their homes further and further south, into smaller and smaller areas, with no guarantee of safety and limited access to the very basics. The majority are now in Rafah, trapped in an area of less than a fifth of Gaza's total land mass, with nowhere left to flee. Families, including young children, are crammed into a mere 62 sq km, sleeping in makeshift tents or in the open air due to the scarcity of shelter. But with threats of military expansion into an already precarious area of Gaza, children and their families could face the deadliest and most destructive chapter of this conflict yet.

Nearly all children in Gaza are at imminent risk of famine. Everyone in Gaza is now at risk of famine and facing crisis levels of food insecurity or worse.

Please donate today to children in crisis in Gaza and around the world, where the needs are the biggest and most urgent.

our response: DONATE NOW TO THE CHILD EMERGENCY FUND

We have the experience to limit the effects of disasters on children's lives - and our Child Emergency Fund is the key to unlocking this expertise. Thanks to your support, we can help millions of children in their darkest hour.  Please give now to our Child Emergency Fund today:

Save the Children’s first truck carrying 45,000 bottles of water arrived in Gaza on Sunday 29th October 2023. More lifesaving supplies have since entered.

As of 22nd February 2024, Save the Children has reached over 321,000, including over 165,000 children in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. We are working with local partners to distribute supplies within shelters and to households in Gaza, including over 7,900 food baskets, 93,000 water bottles, and more than 24,000 hygiene and dignity kits. We also distributed around 1,910 recreational kits to UNRWA shelters and other places where people are sheltering, alongside carrying out psychosocial support for children. Through partners, our structured psychosocial support services have reached over 11,000 children in UNRWA shelters, primarily in northern Gaza, as well as in six shelters in Raf.

We are responding in Egypt to support children and their families being evacuated from Gaza for medical treatment. Through partnering with the Egyptian Ambulance organisation and Community Jameel, we are delivering life-saving support to Palestinian children and their families being medically evacuated from Gaza. In Lebanon and Syria we’re already assisting families who have been displaced. Our teams in oPt and across the region are ready to provide more lifesaving support as soon as it’s possible to do so:

1. Providing urgent food, water and winterization kits, with warm clothes and blankets, to families.

2. Setting up safe spaces for children and providing mental health and psychosocial support for children and their caregivers.

3. Deploying our Emergency Health Unit and procuring essential medical equipment.

4. Providing emergency e-vouchers and multi-purpose cash transfers.

5. Setting up temporary learning spaces and repairing damaged schools

This is only possible with support from donors like you. Please give what you can by donating to our Child Emergency Fund.

WHat can we do with your donation?

Rafah is one of the last areas in Gaza where hospitals, water and sanitation facilities and bakeries are still partially functioning. It is also the base for the majority of humanitarian organisations. Any further violence in this area would be simply catastrophic.

Your donation can help us provide emergency aid, shelter, food, and medical care to those affected by the conflict. Save the Children’s team in the occupied Palestinian territory has been working around the clock, prepositioning vital supplies to support people in need, and working to find ways to get assistance into Gaza.

Our Child Emergency Fund is a central pot of funding for emergencies. It gives us the flexibility to respond quickly and wherever the need is greatest. Your donation will allow our response teams to react to emergencies around the world.

Your gift is urgently needed for these children and their families. Donate now to save the lives of children in crisis.
