Hear from communications officer Kateryna who is speaking from Ukraine, where volunteers are giving cash assistance to families who are being evacuated from Mariopol. 

As the war in Ukraine enters its second year, the conflict lines continue to stretch for thousands of kilometres and the continuous changes in the conflict patterns, most recently with attacks on infrastructure across the country, has led to a climate of uncertainty.

Since 24th February 2022, more than 23,000 civilian casualties have been verified by the UN, including more than 8,570 civilians who have been killed. Of those, more than 1,500 children have been injured or killed.

The war in Ukraine is a war on children. But they are absent from the narrative. Children are the future of Ukraine, but their present, development and futures are severely hampered by ongoing violations, their rights are being violated on a daily basis and they are at serious risk of abuse, neglect and of grave violations of their rights.
